I had Austin G from down south with a day full of topwater and a spoon fed flounder. With some more positive results from FHKC.
Read More...With all that is going on , May was a great month full of some great fish caught. Phil B from MD started off the month with 2 nice slot snook on trip 1 and a hand full of short reds and and a nice mid slot for dinner from the “Land of Spartina” on trip 2. Jon was next on a work furlough from OK with some short reds on topwater and a nice mid slot for dinner. Then it was a road trip to explore a new area in the ” Land of Spartina” with Dustin M which was successful with 2 nice slot reds and a few trout and some nice fish seen. Last was this cool lady Liz N from south FL nailing her 1st snook 27″. It was nice to see some smiling faces and making memories. Bri

“The Land of Spartina” has had some great red fishing lately with some slot fish and over slot . Andy P had a stellar day . Fished a few times myself and with a good friend with some great results.
Jeff M back down from AL nailing this nice mid morning under slot snook. He also caught a cool looking 7 spot mid slot redfish, I’ll called “Lucky 7”. We can add a few small reds an 1 nice upper slot that came unbuttoned. All in all a god day again with a accomplished kayak angler.
The snook , redfish and spottedseatrout action has been right on target for kayak anglers in the backcountry.
These last few cold fronts have put the water temps into the mid 60’s , with that said I have a tendency to kayak to some back country ponds that hold bait and are a slight bit warmer and always produce large fish . They are not in great numbers but you will be sure to nail a over slot Redfish or large Trout keeping warm .
The fishing right now during and in between fronts has made the Redfish action on point with the fish hitting topwater baits and with soft plastics being presented right in there face for some epic fishing right now. Dressing properly is a big key right now but the hook ups will warm you up real fast. Bri
Will W. was down visiting family from NC. We hit the water at day break with a chilly air temp of 52 deg.
A year ago I was contacted by John Kumiski about a book he was writing on paddle fishing the state of Florida and I was asked to to a portion of the West Coast known as the ” Nature Coast” and said “Hech Yeah” . So the dates were scheduled and we went about fishing for 2 days in 2 different areas in of Ozello. We fished, laughed , joked and discussed the estuary and history of the area. So last week I received a email from John saying the book was finished and I’m mailing you your copy. Well let me tell you that this guide called ” Fishing Florida By Paddle an Anglers Guide” is a excellent publication for the novice or the accomplished angler , it touches on every aspect of fishing from a kayak, canoe or paddle board from gear and safety to destinations from the Panhandle down the West Coast to the Keys and up the East Coast to Jacksonville. This publication is a must for any paddle anglers library. It can be purchased through “The History Press”. Bri
The redfish bite has been on fire from Ozello to Steinhatchee. They are being caught on the topwater baits , twitch baits and soft platics.
Don’t let these storm’s put a damper on your day. The bite has been great between these intense storms with the fish getting really active before and after. I’ve had to paddle back and wait them out while most anglers head to the house. Once again topwater and a small profile twitch bait has been very productive.
